Last season as the U6 group (comprising the Reception and Year 1 children), we had over 70 players registered with a regular attendance over 40 or more whatever the weather!
As an introduction to Rugby we focussed on core skills of running straight lines, passing, catching and teamwork in both attack and defence.
We had a fantastic group of coaches and it was great to see the enthusiastic support of those who joined us during the season, swapping their welly boots for an eye catching pink hoody. The players definitely benefit from having so many coaches as it means we can ensure all players get support and attention they need.
It was satisfying for all to see the progress in skills, we’re looking to close out our season with a performance in front of the 7’s crowd at St Marks, a taste of the tournament play that awaits those moving into Year 2 and the U7’s next year.
Each week the coaches and parents have delighted in seeing the smiles, laughter and participation of the players throughout each of our hour long sessions. From the ‘animal’ warm up, to the skills and drills, game play and finally the Bulldog and stickers that end our session it’s clear to see fun everyone is having!
As under 7s we move into longer training sessions starting at 10am on Sunday 3rd September. We look forerard to seeing you then.
